WELCOME

My name is James and I am a dork. Been one all my life. But if I had to pick a point in time that got me this way, it was when I was 8 years old and dragging my mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. I had every figure and vehicle made at the time and I would recreate the entire film in my parents apartment. My first frozen Han Solo was thrown in my freezer in a cup of water. I was an innovator even back then 😉 Those were good times. So much so, that it actually makes me sad when I see kids afraid to open the package of their action figures because they will “lose” value.

The memories I had growing up was priceless.

Voltron, G.I. Joe, The Thundercats, Transformers… kids today don’t know how good their parents had it.

Other influences on my dorkdom was watching the original Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Wonder Woman and of course the Dynamic Duo in Batman. Every Saturday after bowling I would spend my weekly allowance at the local Comic shop and embrace the adventures of Batman in Detective Comics, the New Teen Titans and Spidey. I learned to appreciate all forms of storytelling thanks to writers like Marv Wolfman working alongside artist George Perez (The New Teen Titans) and the grand daddy of them all… Stan Lee (The Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men. His list is endless).

My goal with this blog, is that I hope this site helps bring out the kid that is still in all of us. From comic books to toys, from TV shows to movies, I’ll share my thoughts on all things dorky. Hey, like the Joker said in The Dark Knight… Why so serious?

So say it with me, I’m a dork and I’m proud.

May the Dork be with you,

JPB

About The Dork Knight 520 Articles
James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it. So bring your Phaser (set to stun), Lightsaber, Sonic Screwdriver, a Wand, Mjolnir or the Ring to rule them all, because this site is for the dork in all of us.
