THE WALKING DEAD ROUNDUP…

If you haven’t seen last night’s episode titled “Prey”, read no further. If you have, please continue.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

We are reaching the final episodes of the season and a lot builds on the previous weeks. Last nights Walking Dead will serve as a reminder of just how inhuman our humans in this setting can be. If I had any complaints, is that things move at a very methodical pace. Perhaps too methodical. There was so much anticipation for last weeks meeting between Rick and the Governor that you’re left wanting more.

Last nights episode started with a flashback of Andrea and Michonne before the Governor entered their lives but nothing of worth was revealed. Michonne definitely has a past yet to be explored and would be interesting to know more about. Maybe a seed was planted that will come to fruition later as the series moves along. After the flashback scene we see Andrea and Milton spying on the Governor who is setting up a torture chamber with the most interesting of devices. You just know that these are NOT meant for the walkers. Knowing that she can put an end to this horror and potential war with Rick once and for all, Andrea pulls out a gun only to be stopped by Milton. He does admit to Andrea that he struggles with his loyalty to the man he use to know simply as Philip because he believes he still exist somewhere behind the eye patch and behind the hate that took his wife and daughter. Milton convinces Andrea to leave Woodbury and head back home to the prison.

Seeing that there is no future for her here at Woodbury, Andrea makes her escape and begins her trek towards the prison. Not having much of a backbone, Milton lets on to the Governor Andrea’s intentions and now the Governor is in hot pursuit.
Despite her head start, it does not take long for him to catch up to her and we are entertained by the cat and mouse routine that plays out for several minutes in a warehouse where Andrea thinks she gains the upper hand by leading the Governor to a room filled with walkers.

Fast forward a bit and just as Andrea comes within a stones throw of the prison and seeing Rick at one of the watch towers, the Governor comes up from behind and prevents her letting them know that she was there.

Later, the Governor arrives back at Woodbury alone. He claims to Tyreese and Milton that he couldn’t find her and was probably long gone. So where is Andrea? Did he kill her? Did he bound her to a tree with walkers lurking? No, it is revealed that he did indeed bring her back with him and she is sitting gagged and looking terrified as the Governor’s would be first victim of the torture chamber.

Because this is based on the comic book which is over 100 issues in, there is a heightened expectation and anticipation for things to come. Sometimes this can serve as a drawback. Despite its graphic nature, this show is still quite tamed compared to the book itself. Which begs the question, how far will we see the real sadistic side of the Governor? Will it be implied? Or will it be as brutal as it is in the book? Only time will tell.
Make sure to check back next Monday to read another roundup.
