BARRY ALLEN ON ARROW

This past Wednesday comic book fans got their first glimpse of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) on the CW’s Arrow. But he isn’t The Flash just yet. This episode titled “The Scientist”, serves as an introduction to the character who is slated to have his own series on the network in 2014.

When it comes to the hierarchy of DC Comics superheroes, The Flash is probably No. 4 behind Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Which makes his appearance all the more exciting.
This episode centers around a mysterious and seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Industries. Barry, a scientist with Central City Police is sent to Starling City to investigate. Upon meeting Barry, Oliver is suspicious of him and has Diggle do a little investigating of his own.

Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and Grant Gustin as Barry Allen
We come to learn that Barry has his own motives of being in Starling City. His mother was murdered and the MO is reflective of the one now at Queen Industries. All Barry knows is that someone or something came in like a “blur” and murdered his mother. His father is now in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. This blur Barry referred to, could that be the Reverse Flash? We’ll have to stay tuned.
It looks like we won’t be seeing Barry become The Flash during this two-part arc. But if part one is any indication of what we can expect from Grant Gustin, than I can’t wait to see part two of this mid-season finale this Wednesday, December 11. And most assuredly the new series when it premieres next year.
May the Dork be with you,
