THE FLASH: ESCAPE FROM EARTH-2 RECAP

If you thought last week’s episode of The Flash was intense, wait till you see what happens in “Escape from Earth-2,” from this past Tuesday. There were so many possible repercussions that will carry this series for seasons to come. Warning, spoilers ahead…

The last we saw of Barry was him being imprisoned by Zoom where Harrison Wells’ daughter Jesse and a mysterious man in an iron mask were also being held. In order to save Barry and Jesse, Cisco and Harrison enlist the help from Earth-2’s Barry Allen and Iris. They also convince a reluctant Killer Frost to join them.
Team Flash was able to break into Zoom’s lair (a phrase coined by Cisco) and save Barry and Jesse but not before Zoom returned thanks to a double cross from Killer Frost. But when Zoom was about to kill Jesse in front of her father, Killer Frost couldn’t in good conscience allow that to happen especially after what Zoom had done to Ronnie. She fends Zoom off allowing the others to escape and make their way back to Earth-1.
Back on Earth-1 the rest of Team Flash, Joe, Caitlin and Jay awaited their return. Cisco and Jesse were the first ones to make it through the portal. On the other side, Zoom broke free of Killer Frost and had a hold of Wells. Wells was willing to sacrifice himself but Barry was able to grab Wells and together they arrived home on Earth-1. Jay was able to close the portal for good or so we thought.
With everyone’s guard down, Jay stood too close to the portal and Zoom was able to pierce Jay’s chest and pull him back through the portal. It would appear that Jay Garrick is dead. But until it’s confirmed, I’m not ready to bury him just yet. This brings me to an important aspect of this episode. Remember the man in the iron mask? Barry and Jesse were able to communicate with him through a series of coded knocks. Only one word was able to be deciphered… JAY. Barry took it as the man behind the mask wanting to know about Jay Garrick. When Barry told him that Jay was alive and well, the metal-head became very upset and distraught. Why? That’s a question that will have to wait to be answered.
Who is that masked man?

When Barry was being saved by the others, he vowed that he will come back and save him. The identity of this man was yet to be revealed but there is much speculation that he may be the real Jay Garrick. Which begs the question of who is the “Jay Garrick” that was on Earth-1 claiming to be Earth-2’s Flash? Like I said earlier, there are so many possible repercussions stemming from this two-parter.
