Things are getting interesting in Star Wars Rebels with the latest episode, “The Holocrons of Fate”. Warning, spoilers ahead…
When Darth Maul returned to the Star Wars universe at the close of Season 2, it may turn out to be a godsend on multiple levels. And that singular moment in the closing minutes of Saturday night’s episode when he and Ezra brought two Sith Holocrons together could lead to a major payoff. I’m hoping this will lead to bigger and greater things. All we as the audience hears is “twin suns” which must be a reference to Tatooine and Maul saying “he lives”, could only mean a reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Whether or not my thoughts become reality is anyone’s guess. It makes total sense to bridge the gap between the animated adventures of post Clone Wars to “A New Hope”. The one thing to continue to keep a careful eye on is Ezra’s thirst for knowledge and his curiosity of the Dark Side. Even as Ezra and Kanan resolve any issues that existed between the two, one must wonder what the future holds between master and apprentice.
