THE FLASH: NEW ROGUES RECAP

Mirror, mirror on the wall who is not quite the best new rogue of them all? Tuesday night’s The Flash was a slight misstep in terms of villains but furthered on subplot while introducing another. Warning, spoilers ahead…

“New Rogues” opened three years ago when the particle accelerator blew up the same one that gave Barry his speed and countless other metahumans some unique abilities. Two in particular were Sam Scudder aka Mirror Master and Rosalind Dillon aka Top who are former cohorts of Captain Cold, Leonard Snart. Scudder has the ability to transport himself and others through the use of mirrors and other reflective surfaces. Dillion, whose powers are less than stellar, uses vertigo to subdue her opponents.
Barry and Jesse Quick donning her new uniform team up to confront them but were ill prepared for their unique powers. Barry is trapped inside a mirror and Jesse was induced with vertigo and nearly fell to death. In order to free Barry from his predicament, Harrison and Cisco determine that with extreme freezing, Barry should be able to break free. However, an alarm goes off before they can complete the testing. Caitlin then uses her ice powers to free Barry without anyone knowing her involvement.
With Barry now free, he and Jesse once again go after Mirror Master and Top, this time using their own powers against the new rogues to defeat them. As far as villains go, these were not the greatest. There were a few things that saved this episode. One was Violett Beane as Jesse Quick. She’s awesome and I hope to see more of her in the future. The other was introducing a new Harrison Wells from Earth-19. Earth-2 Wells had suggested to the team that they find a replacement for him when he and Jesse return to their earth. Major acting credit goes to Tom Cavanagh for shining with the multiple of Wells that were reviewed before reluctantly deciding of Earth-19’s version. The other thing that happened that intrigued me was Caitlin accidently freezing the water while she showered and seeing signs of becoming Killer Frost including the purplish lips and white streak in her hair.

James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it. So bring your Phaser (set to stun), Lightsaber, Sonic Screwdriver, a Wand, Mjolnir or the Ring to rule them all, because this site is for the dork in all of us.
