STAR WARS REBELS: AN INSIDE MAN RECAP

Star Wars Rebels continues to up its game and forge itself as some moments in the Star Wars canon. Saturday night’s “An Inside Man” is season three’s best episode to date. Warning, spoilers ahead…

Things are heating up for our rebels as Grand Admiral Thrawn suspects and rightfully so, that there is a traitor among them. That traitor that many have suspected is none other than Agent Kallus who turns out to be the new Fulcrum. Kallus as a double agent, still deep inside the Empire and within Thrawn’s reach and suspicious mind, coupled with the fact that the Ghost Crew does not trust him, puts him in harms way all away around. Whew! How long can Kallus keep his secret from Thrawn? Probably till season’s end, if not sooner. Confirming who he really is and his role in the Rebellion makes the remaining part of this season that much more interesting.

There is no hiding how scary Thrawn is. As clever as Kanan and Ezra were (with help from Kallus), Thrawn did seem to be a step ahead of them. Yes, they escaped but that was more of Thrawn allowing it to happen as oppose to them outsmarting the Empire. Thrawn knows they didn’t work alone and that they had help in escaping. The killing of Sumar, an old family friend of Ezra was a chilling reminder of how ruthless Thrawn can and will be to maintain order showcase is power.

I have to admit and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who thought this but the “secret project” discussed was regarding the Death Star.  As it turns out, it was regarding a TIE Interceptor, something we see in later films. With Rogue One due out in theaters on the 16th, the thought of it being the Death Star was logical. “An Inside Man” had the right amount of action, suspense and unanswered questions needed to carry us to the end of this season and season’s to come.

May the Dork be with you,
