STAR WARS REBELS: VISIONS AND VOICES RECAP

Star Wars Rebels latest episode, “Visions and Voices”, continues it’s progression of bridging the gap between Star Wars past and the original trilogy. Warning, spoilers ahead…

Ezra has been plagued by visions of Maul.  And when he reveals himself to Ezra and Kanan as they visit Bendu, he threatens to reveal their location to the Empire unless Ezra accompanies him to complete a ritual.  Ezra agrees to go with Maul to Dathomir much to the dismay of some the Ghost Crew. At Dathomir, Ezra and Maul use some dark magic to complete their holocron vision that began earlier this season with “The Holocrons of Fate”. This vision is of a desert planet with two suns. Can anyone say Tatooine?
After the completion of the ritual, spirits of the Nightsister clan attacks Ezra and Maul. Kanan and Sabine arrive in time only to become possessed themselves by the clan.  They attack Ezra and Maul who fend them off by escaping to outer range of the altar that gives the Nightsisters their power. In order to save his friends, Ezra offers himself to the clan but then destroys the altar. Kanan and Sabine return to their normal selves. As they leave, Sabine takes possession of the darksaber. Later, Kanan and Ezra discuss his vision. Kanan deciphers that Maul’s target is none other than Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
How this will all play out and how Obi-Wan’s backstory while in hiding gets handled is something we’ll have to wait and see. But seeing what has been done so far, I have a lot of faith in the creative minds behind Rebels to fill in those gaps in an engaging and exciting way.
May the Dork be with you,
