| I’m Batman |
Well my fellow dorks, the internet is all abuzz regarding the news that Warner Brothers has chosen Ben Affleck as the new Batman. As of this post, the internet seems to be split 50-50 on this choice. I must admit if this was the same Ben Affleck who was hanging out with Jennifer Lopez and putting out “classics” like Gigli, I probably would be part of the 50% that hates this idea. But that was then, this is now. I do think that Ben’s greatest strength is from behind the camera. Between the Academy Award winning Argo and the Academy nominated film The Town, Affleck’s directing style and resume is top notch. He has however come along way since Daredevil. I always thought his best early work was in Chasing Amy. Now, he’ll be chasing Henry Cavill’s Superman in the unnamed sequel to Man of Steel. Love him or hate him, all eyes will be on this further developing story. We already have Superman and now we have Batman. All we need to know now is who they’ll be up against. None of this banter will mean anything without a great script and great villains for our heroes to face off against. And just remember this, Christian Bale, my personal favorite Batman, wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms.
Here’s an interesting thought… how about replacing Zack Snyder as director with Ben Affleck?
