Just in case you didn’t see last week’s big reveal, stop here… Warning spoilers ahead…
Last week we got a real Justice League treat when it was revealed in spectacular fashion, that Hank was Martian Manhunter, J’onn J’onzz. So how do you top that? You do so with Kryptonian face-off between Kara and her aunt Astra that was both emotional and intense with action. Throw in a showdown between the DEO and Astra’s husband, Non and his gang of “supermen” and we’re left with an mid-season finale that leaves you wanting more. I can’t say enough good things about Supergirl’s first eight episodes. They’re diving into the mythology that you wished Smallvillehad done in its early seasons.
We learn that Astra and Non were arrested by Kara’s mother Alura Zor-El and imprisoned in Fort Rozz when she uncovers their bizarre attempt to save Kryton from its inevitable doom. Kara is somehow caught in the middle of this sibling rivalry with both sides seemingly playing Kara against the other. Astra goes as far as allowing herself to be “beaten and captured” by Kara and brought back to the DEO. It doesn’t take Alex and Hank long to realize that the real threat is happening elsewhere… Lord Technologies. Just as Non and his super villains wreak havoc and all appears lost for Alex, Hank and the DEO, Supergirl arrives with a showdown between her and Non. Sadly, we need to wait and find out what happens next. Great cliffhanger!
An interesting reveal last night had nothing to do with villains or aliens from another planet. This one was a lot closer to home. The ever observant Cat Grant was able to put two and two together and figure out that Kara was indeed Supergirl. She confronted Kara with all the “coincidences” that has occurred of late and how Kara and Supergirl always seem to be in the middle of it all. Kara initially downplays the coincidences but when Cat asks Kara to remove her glasses, Kara reluctantly complies. Cat thanks her for help and refers to her as Supergirl. It’s a great scene and the chemistry between the two ladies is quite a treat. How this will play out of course remains to be seen? But what I do know is that I look forward to seeing it all unfold.
May the Dork be with you,
