Wednesday night’s Arrow episode, “Code of Silence” tested are heroes against the relentless H.I.V.E. and Damien Darhk. Warning, spoilers ahead…
As you may recall, last week ended with Malcolm Merlyn revealing to Darhk that Oliver has a son named William. In this episode we see that Malcolm is now very much entrenched with H.I.V.E. after losing his hold on the League of Assassins to Nyssa. The person however taking center stage was Darhk’s wife Ruve Adams (Janet Kidder) who also happens to be Oliver Queen’s Mayoral opponent. If we learned anything, we learned that she could be as cunning and ruthless as her husband and that says a lot. After Darhk’s failed attempt at taking down Captain Lance, literally by bringing down an entire building around him, Team Arrow was put on notice. Darhk’s wife then took aim at Oliver at the debate by planting bombs intending to blow him and his team up. Fortunately Oliver and company had dispatched of the H.I.V.E. threat and disarmed the bombs before detonation.
As the title would suggest, a code of silence would be something that had to be broken by both Lance and Oliver. For Lance, after the hit that was put on him, he asked Donna to put their relationship on hold. He wouldn’t explain why and she didn’t buy his reasoning. She decided to break things off altogether. After the bomb issue was put to rest, Lance with encouragement from Felicity, broke his silence and told Donna all about Darhk, H.I.V.E. and what role he had played. Donna understood that he would do anything to protect his daughters and her for that matter. She forgave him and the two reconciled.
As for Oliver, things got a little complicated when Thea was investigating the finances of Queen Consolidated. She came across a check for a million dollars that their mother, Moira had issued to Samantha, the mother of Oliver’s son, William. The check however was never cashed. It didn’t take long for Thea to put two and two together and Oliver was forced to break his silence regarding the existence of William. He told her he had yet to tell Felicity respecting Samantha’s wishes. But that may have to change.
The closing moment of the episode showing that William had been kidnapped by Darhk and introduced him to his daughter. He stated that his William’s mother wanted him to stay with them for a while. This of course begs the question of what happened to Samantha? Is she still alive? And this only adds to the drama of who’s grave is Oliver standing over with Barry?
May the Dork be with you,
