STAR WARS REBELS: THE LAST BATTLE RECAP

One of the best things about the prequels was the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars that bridged the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. In so many ways, they were better stories as a whole than the live action films. Saturday nights “The Last Battle” reminded us just how good The Clone Wars was. Warning, spoilers ahead…

The issue of war and to coin a phrase “what’s it good for?” rings true and the thought of who are the architects or puppet masters pulling the strings and calling the shots behind the scenes. Who is the real enemy? While on a salvage mission at an old battleground of the Clone Wars, the Ghost crew is captured by old Separatist droids. These droids are led by a Super Tactical Droid who avoided shutdown by the Empire and wants to face off against Captain Rex, Ezra and Kanan to prove who was superior, the Separatist or the Republic.

As a distress call from Chopper reaches Hera and Sabine it has also reached the Empire who promptly dispatched forces to intercept and destroy. After a stalemate, Ezra convinces the Tactical Droid that neither side won the war. If anything, the real winner was the Empire. Ezra also points out that the Separatists were fighting against tyranny which is exactly what the Empire represents. The Tactical Droid sees the logic in Ezra’s argument and decides to work with the Ghost crew to fend off the approaching Imperial troops.
Rex is impressed by Ezra’s diplomatic skills as the two sides set aside their differences to face down their true enemy. Another solid episode in what’s becoming a most satisfying season.

James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it. So bring your Phaser (set to stun), Lightsaber, Sonic Screwdriver, a Wand, Mjolnir or the Ring to rule them all, because this site is for the dork in all of us.
