STAR WARS REBELS: IRON SQUADRON RECAP

Beware the Iron Squadron! That’s what the crew of The Ghost must contend with as they try and reel in a hotshot and headstrong pilot name Mart. Warning, spoilers ahead…

As the Ghost crew arrives to assist in an evacuation, they encounter an armed freighter identified as the Iron Squadron who helps them fend off an Imperial transport. One of the anti-Imperial dissidents is Commander Sato who informs Ezra and the others that the Iron Squadron was once led by his brother before being killed in combat. He further explains that the leadership of the squadron now fell on his rambunctious nephew Mart. No doubt this hotshot pilot who defies authority will remind you of a younger version of Han Solo.

Ezra and Sabine board the ship to meet with Mart and his crew of two to convince them to not be so reckless and instead work together against the Empire. Meanwhile, Admiral Thrawn learns of their existence and quickly dispatches a larger force to deal with them. Now surrounded and out gunned, Ezra and Sabine work on getting the Iron Squadron back to the Ghost and safety only to have Mart stay behind to faceoff against the Imperials alone. The only problem, his ship is disabled and inoperative.

The Ghost along with Commander Sato makes it in time to save and rescue Mart just as Thrawn arrives. Sato and Thrawn exchange words before going into hyperspace, escaping the Imperial ambush. In the end Sato is reunited with his nephew and Mart along with the other members of the Iron Squadron decide to join the rebellion.

Overall, not a bad episode and anytime Thrawn is thrown into the mix, it only makes things that much more interesting.

May the Dork be with you,

James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it.
