When Kara and Mon-El are thrust through a portal, they wind up on another planet where a universal slave trade takes place, in the episode “Supergirl Lives” directed by Kevin Smith. Warning, spoilers ahead…
During her investigation into a missing girl, Kara learns that there has been a rise in missing person cases around National City. Kara enlists Winn to help her with this case and he discovers that all of them have one particular thing in common, they’ve all had blood work done before going missing. When Kara and Mon-El visit the clinic that conducted the blood work, the scientist in charge tries to force both of them through the portal but Supergirl fights off the attack. Knowing that not only the missing girl might be on the other side but the other missing people might be there as well, Supergirl goes through the portal only to discover that the planet has a red sun that takes away her power. With no power to defend herself, Supergirl is attacked by an alien but is saved by Mon-El when he goes through the portal himself. Supergirl and Mon-El go searching for the missing people but get captured in the process by an alien named Jo.
Back on Earth, Alex locates the portal that Hank confirms to be a transmatter portal but because the air is toxic to Martians, Hank can’t go through. Alex instead recruits Winn to help rescue everyone on the other side. As it turns out that the missing people held inside a fortress are being sold as slaves and Mon-El realizes that they’re on Slaver’s Moon. In order to get inside and save all of them, Superigrl and Mon-El surrender. Supergirl finds the missing girl, Izzy and the others when Roulette, the alien club owner from Earth arrives. She tells Supergirl it’s because of her that she has gotten into the slave trade to begin with. Supergirl had exposed and put an end to Roulette’s fight club.
A Dominator like the ones we saw during the invasion crossover event wants to buy all the humans. Slavers begin to torture Supergirl with tasers. Seeing how much Supergirl was willing to sacrifice to save the others, Mon-El gathers the others to fight back. Alex and Winn arrive with a strike team to free everyone and to lead them back through the portal. A fight ensues and at one point, Mon-El almost gets shot only to have the Dominator save him and then bowing to a surprised Mon-El.
Everyone makes it through the portal to safety except Izzy who has been captured. Alex uses a yellow sun grenade that Hank had constructed to help give Supergirl her powers. With her powers restored, Supergirl saves Izzy and together they make it through the portal back to Earth. Later that night, Mon-El arrives at Kara’s apartment and tells her that he wants to be a superhero like her much to her delight.
The episode wraps up when two hooded aliens arrive on Slaver’s Moon looking for Mon-El. The scientist informs them that Mon-El’s on Earth. They end up killing the scientist afterwards. The second half of season two has already started with a bang. I can only imagine what in store for all of us the rest of the way.
