THE FLASH: BORROWING PROBLEMS FROM THE FUTURE RECAP

As a new criminal called Plunder arrives in Central City to wreak havoc, Barry can’t shake the vision he had of Savitar killing Iris. Warning, spoilers ahead…

A big theme on Tuesday’s episode of The Flash had a lot to do with acceptance. It starts with Julian. Caitlin goes to see Julian and urges him to let go of his guilt from being under Savitar’s control and the chaos he caused during that time. He has to accept the fact that it’s not who he really is; Savitar does not define him. Caitlin even goes so far as to offer him a job at STAR Labs, which by the end, he decides to join the team.

As for Barry it’s accepting that he needs his team as much as they need him. Barry wants to alter the vision of the future that has tormented him by letting what he knows of the future dictate the present. This is especially true when the criminal Plunder shows up and Barry recalls this villain‘s presence in the future and he fears by capturing him it will set into motion the events that lead to Iris’ death. He refuses to capture him and is upset with Wally for stepping in and capturing the villain himself.

Barry later shares his visions with Iris and together they tell the others with the exception of Joe who tell wish to protect. Cisco vibes with Barry to see the future together and chart what they see and relay it back to the team. Some events have already changed as Barry notices Wells appearing in this “new” future fighting against Savitar. When they return Wally informs Barry that Plunder has escaped. The two suit up to bring Plunder back to justice. This time however, Barry convinces Wally that to change the future he needs to be the one to capture Plunder not Barry as was originally reported in the future. He sees this as an opportunity to rewrite his vision of the future. Wally’s able to do so and its Kid Flash who is now credited with the apprehension thus changing one small part of the timeline. Barry tells the others that the future isn’t set in stone and that they can control it one small change at a time.

As everyone gathers at Barry and Iris’ new home, Gypsy arrives through a portal with a hologram of Wells and a look a vengeance on her face.
