Things are heating up in Riverdale. The aftermath of the discovery that Jason did not drown but was murdered, causes a huge stir in town. Warning, spoilers ahead…
The mystery revolving around Jason’s murder is just the tip of the iceberg. As we saw in the pilot episode, Archie and his music teacher Miss Grundy were by the lake when they both heard the gunshot that killed Jason. Archie wants to do the right thing and let the police know however, Grundy fearing exposure of their romance would have a negative impact on her is against it. Jughead accidentally discovers the two while in school and confronts Archie. When Archie tells him about the gunshot, Jughead urges him to come clean with sheriff. Then there’s that kiss between new girl Veronica and Archie that strained his relationship with his best friend Betty who clearly has feelings for him.
After speaking with his father. Archie is shown approaching the principal’s office when the door flies open and both the principal and the sheriff head down the hallway to the science lab where they arrest Cheryl for the murder of her brother based on the results of the autopsy. The closing moments of “A Touch of Evil” took place at Pop’s Diner where Betty and Veronica have decided to make a pact that no boy would ever come between them again and in comes Archie with Jughead as they too have reconciled. So far with two episodes in, there is enough meat on the bone to satisfy its viewers. The cast is likable and the story for the moment holds my interest.
