This review is overdue but I do want to discuss Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead titled “Rock in the Road”. Warning, spoilers ahead…
When we last saw Rick and the gang, they were at The Hilltop ready to meet Gregory to seek their help against the Saviors. Gregory was less than thrilled to see them let alone wanting to help them. But he’s alone in the stance as other rally behind Rick and want to stand up to Negan and his Saviors. Meanwhile, Jesus takes Rick’s group to the Kingdom to meet Ezekiel. There, they reunite with Morgan and learn that Carol is alive and well but on her own. The meeting between Ezekiel doesn’t go well at first because Ezekiel felt betrayed by Jesus for letting an outsider know of his arrangement with Negan. He does however offer sanctuary for Daryl. Daryl is against the idea and wants to be the others but Rick convinces him that this is the right move for the time being.
On the way, back to Alexandria, the group comes across a blockade of parked cars and a series of explosives set as a trap by the Saviors for the walkers. Rick and company manage to retrieve the explosives for themselves before a herd of walkers arrive. They also hear on one of the stolen radios that Negan is sending out a search party to find Daryl. Rick knows he’s pressed for time. They make it back to Alexandria just ahead of the Saviors arrival. The Saviors search Alexandria destroying property in the process. Finding nothing, they leave but with a warning that there was no statute of limitations on Daryl’s life.
Seeing that Father Gabriel had taken the group’s supplies and leaving clues to his possible location, Rick goes after him. The clues lead the team to a parking lot where they are surrounded by a new group of survivors. The closing shot shows Rick smiling.
Stay tuned…
May the Dork be with you,
