Betty and Veronica learn about Archie and Ms. Grundy but their secret doesn’t just stay between them. Warning, spoilers ahead…
After spotting Archie and his dad having dinner with Ms. Grundy, Betty along with Veronica, confronts Archie and he confesses his relationship. They also learn that he and Ms. Grundy were by the river the day Jason was murdered and that they heard the gunshot. This revelation prompts Betty to dig deeper into Ms. Grundy’s life by way of a school interview. Not completely satisfied, Betty and Veronica look into her past and discover that Geraldine Grundy does not exist and the only one they could find was an elderly woman who died seven years earlier. They end up breaking into her car where they find a gun and an ID with the name “Jennifer Gibson”. The girls bring this to Archie’s attention who later questions Grundy. She reveals that she was once in an abusive relationship and changing her identity was her only escape. Archie takes her at face value.
Everything is short-lived however after Betty’s mom Alice finds the gun in Betty’s drawer and goes through her diary and finds about Archie and Grundy. Later that night Alice along with Archie’s dad confront Grundy and exposes her affair with Archie. Fearing people finding out, forces Grundy to leave town for good.

Not only is he the leader, but turns out to be Jughead’s father. And so, the plot thickens.
