While searching for Gabriel, Rick and his group meet a mysterious collective led by a woman named Jadis. Warning, spoilers ahead…
Before Rick could recruit the leader of the Scavengers, he must prove himself worthy. Jadis proceeds to push Rick into a pit where he had to battle an armored walker. After Rick defeats the walker, Jadis agrees to join their fight against the Saviors in exchange for guns and supplies for her people. Ricks agrees to her terms.
As Rick was negotiating with the Scavengers, Richard devises a plan to get Ezekiel to join the fight, by framing Carol and having her killed by the Saviors. He strongly believes that by doing so, Ezekiel would have no other choice. The problem with this plan is that he tells Daryl. The two fight with Daryl gaining the upper hand and threatens to kill him if any harm comes to Carol.

And if you thought the reunion between Rick and Daryl was special, wait till you see the one between Carol and Daryl. It was a special moment for us as viewers and sad at the same time. Carol clearly wants to live out the rest of her days in peace. When she ask Daryl about the others and whether anyone got hurt or worse when dealing with the Saviors, Daryl opts to not tell her about Glenn or Abraham or what happened to him. It’s better to give her the allusion of peace instead of the reality of the war that’s about to occur. I’m sure this won’t be the last we see them together but for meantime, keeping Carol free from this is better for everyone. The two-part ways later that night as Daryl heads back to the Hilltop.
