With only two episodes remaining for Star Wars Rebels, Monday night’s episodes, “Wolves and a Door” and “A World Between Worlds”, major story arcs continue to come full circle. Warning, spoilers ahead…
Ezra and the Ghost Crew with help from the Loth-Wolves head for the Jedi Temple only to discover that the Mining Guild under the supervision of Imperial Minister Hydan has occupied it. Under the guise of being an Imperial scout, Ezra finds a mural depicting the Mortis Gods of a Father, Son and Daughter (sound potentially familiar?). He then uses the Force to bring the images to life and unlocking a door, a passageway into the temple.
As Ezra enters the Jedi Temple, Sabine is captured and questioned by Hydan. Hydan ask Sabine to interpret the mural and it’s learned that the Emperor intends to breach the barrier between life and death in order to gain full control of the Force within the universe itself. Before she could reveal anything else about the portal, Sabine is rescued by Hera and Zeb. Meanwhile, Ezra goes into the void that lies between time and space and hears voices of the past and future including those of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. He is then led to another portal and when it opens, it reveals Ahsoka’s battle with her former master, Darth Vader. Before she could die, Ezra reaches in and pulls her through the portal and into the void.
Realizing that by doing so he could now save Kanan from his fate, Ezra makes an attempt to help his master. Ahsoka convinces him to not change Kanan’s fate. As the two are about to say their goodbyes, one of the Lothal doors open and its the Emperor. He begins to attack them both. Ezra and Ahsoka separate and escape through different portals. Reunited with Sabine, Ezra is able to seal the portal to the void and in doing so, triggers the collapse of the Jedi temple, thus causing the temple to vanish.
The series finale of Star Wars Rebels airs Monday night at 8:00PM.
