Whatever it takes. This is our heroes rally cry in Avengers: Endgame. NO SPOILERS AHEAD…
The following review will be completely spoiler-free. Instead, I will choose to celebrate what has been an incredible ten plus year run of a cinematic universe that quite frankly will probably never be duplicated again. Thankfully, there appears to be no end in sight.
By now we already know that Endgame picks up after the events of Infinity War and the snap from Thanos. The infamous snap that wiped out half the universe and left what remains of the Avengers to deal with what was left behind. The Infinity Saga as these twenty-two films are referred to as had one central theme throughout. That theme revolved around the meaning of family. Family isn’t solely defined by what flows through our veins. Compassion, a sense of community, togetherness and friendship and the sacrifice one is willing to make for another are all such traits. The Avengers and the MCU as a whole exemplify such a definition. At times this also rang true for the villains.
As a film, Avengers: Endgame is both exciting and very entertaining with a tremendous amount of humor. The visuals are stunning and the action is truly a comic book splash page come to life. They are epic worthy. Endgame, is as you can imagine very emotional. The biggest take away I have however is how satisfying this ending chapter was. In the end, it felt right. When you think about it afterwards, I believe most of us will feel the same way. Isn’t that all you can ever ask? This could easily be the very best of them all.
Am I sad this phase is over? Yes and no. As a fan who has been emotionally invested in these characters closure is never easy. I am however grateful for what it has given me and fans alike. With that said, I say thank you Marvel and Disney for the ride of a lifetime. But a special thank you to Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner aka The Original Six, for the impact that has been left on all of us fans. We salute you.
