Every December 31st for the last seven years, I have unveiled the newest indorktees into The Dork Knight Hall of Fame. It’s been a privilege and an honor meeting such personalities. Personalities like the late Carrie Fisher and William Shatner from film and television. It’s been equally an honor to meet icons from the world of comics such as Stan Lee. As grateful as I am, 2020 has placed a spotlight on individuals that shine brightly everyday but are seldom noticed. I say seldom because as a community we take them for granted. These individuals are our First Responders.
They represent our medical, law enforcement and fire departments. They also represent our education community. To say COVID19 has put a halt on our lives is a severe understatement. The losses from this pandemic across the globe is sobering. While I believe there is a light at the end of this very dark and daunting tunnel, I know much work is still needed. It is the work of such responders, several of which are friends of mine, who do this on a daily basis that has allowed someone like me to enjoy what I do.
I am very proud to induct into The Dork Knight Hall of Fame, the Class of 2020, the Class of any year… First Responders and Educators.
Thank you for all that you do.
To personal friends in the medical, fire, military, law enforcement and our education communities, I thank and salute you.
