Nearly 30 years after its ground breaking debut as arguably the greatest Batman story of all time, The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller has finally made it to film. As part of the DC Animated Universe of original movies, this much anticipated story arc has been released in a stunning two-part series. Part one came […]
About The Dork Knight
James aka “The Dork Knight” is a blogger and writer based out of Upstate New York. For James, it all started with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… when he dragged his mom to see The Empire Strikes Back 10 weeks in a row. He lives and breathes nerd culture. James is proof that a Star Wars fanatic can be a passionate Trekkie as well. So much so James dressed up as Captain Kirk to the premiere of Star Trek VI in 1991 and still has the uniform. When it comes to Comic Books, Sci-Fi or Fantasy whether in print or digital, in the theatre or on my TV screen, I’m all about it and I love it. So bring your Phaser (set to stun), Lightsaber, Sonic Screwdriver, a Wand, Mjolnir or the Ring to rule them all, because this site is for the dork in all of us.
If you Google “Cosplay” you’ll see 146 million search results. If you do the same for “Steampunk”, another 39+ million will come up. That’s a lot of dedication and it shows how much has changed over the years when it comes to indulging your inner dork. Dressing up as your favorite superhero or character has […]
Happy Friday everyone! So, last Friday we bid fair well to Fringe. When Fringe first burst onto the scene in September of 2008, it was often compared to both The X-Files and The Twilight Zone. Not bad company when you think about it. Despite declining ratings, the brainchild of creators J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek), Alex Kurtzman […]
Hello everyone! Yesterday I was asked by one of my followers a very important question: Can the HULK be killed? It’s a simple question with arguments to be made on both sides. So, I invite you to give me your thoughts here on this subject and also answer the weekly poll on the left. Let […]
Happy Monday my fellow dorks. Today in the United States we celebrate the legacy of not only an American hero but a hero for humanity, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There has been a handful of films and documentaries that looks into the life of this extraordinary man. The following are my personal favorites.
Happy Friday my fellow dorks! Here is a follow-up to Tuesday’s post that you will like: This past Monday I was a guest speaker to a group of Girl Scouts. We talked about what it meant to be a superhero. Many of these girls are classmates of my daughters. The other day, I found out […]
Yesterday evening I had the honor and privilege to be asked to speak on the subject of superheroes to the local Girl Scout Troop 10123. As part of their journey the question of “what is a superhero?” was being explored. Enter the Dork Knight. This was a fascinating topic when you consider my audience consisted […]
It is often said that the Golden Globes are a prelude of things to come at the Academy Awards. If that is the case Les Misérables should have a very good night and perhaps Ben Affleck’s Argo as well. In case you missed it, here is a full list of last nights winner’s:
Happy Friday everyone! I figure let’s end the week with some humor. Serious humor but humor just the same. As important as it is to accessorize your costume for Comic Con whether its a lightsaber, a phaser or a Klingon Bat’leth, the geek bag is an essential piece to the puzzle. So what is a Geek […]
When the Green Lantern Corp added a new member as part of the NEW 52 it was both a welcomed and interesting choice. See the newest Lantern is Simon Baz and he is a Muslim. Comic books have always been ground breakers and DC with this new character is no exception. Created by Geoff Johns, Baz is […]
